Rebel Soldier provides quick return for top US owner

Rebel Soldier, a horse owned by Earle Mack, won the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile in his debut race. George Baker rode Rebel Soldier in the horse’s very impressive first race. According to Fiona Shaw, Earle Mack’s racing manager, “George is now two from two for the owner, having ridden Beyond last week. The horse was bought after seeing him work here and he looks a nice prospect for the year.”

Earle Mack owns about fifty horses in the United States and an interest in 23 horses in the UK. Rebel Soldier was trained by Jeremy Noseda.

Mack is the owner of the Luca Cumani-trained stayer Mad Rush, who is likely to start favourite, with two-time Melbourne Cup winner Damien Oliver aboard.

Mack’s curriculum vitae says he has a “long history associated with business, the arts, philanthropy, public service and education”. He is even a former board member of the New York City Ballet.
